Jazz Band is a group that meets 2 times a week for an hour each day, Tuesday mornings from 7:30-8:30am and Thursdays after school 3:30-4:30pm. This group is made up of 12 talented musicians from grades 8-12 who have had at least 1 year on their instrument.
Jazz Band is a place where students come out of their shell and make up solos on the spot in a safe environment where everyone is still learning. Students also have the opportunity to try a new instruments as required be the group to achieve a different sound or simply challenge themselves.
We are currently looking for TROMBONE or EUPHONIUM players to come out and join us to fill in some of the gaps. If you are interested please let either myself or Mrs. Baumann know.

PLAYING OPPORTUNITY!
BCMEA Honour Band: The BCMEA Honour Band is open to all students from grades 8-12. This is a fantastic opportunity where you audition against other high school students from across the province. All you need to do is to learn the material on your instrument, and record your audition. I have all the necessary equipment to record at school, so once you have learned the music, we will set up a time to record. This is a fantastic opportunity and you get to play with musicians from all over BC. The rehearsal dates and performance dates are usually late October and take place at the BC Music Educators Conference in Richmond, at the River Rock Hotel. Auditions won't happen until late March, but if you are interested, start learning your parts. Here is the website, where you can find all the information, http://bctf.ca/BCMEA/HonEns2013.html. It says 2013, but the audition material will be the same. All you have to do is scroll down, and find your instrument, print off the music and start learning it. If you need any help, please ask myself or Mrs. Baumann, and we would be happy to sit with you to go over the parts.
